Wild Weather

After a fantastic weekend, with lovely calm, warm, sunny days today has been a bit of a surprise...

The forecast for this week was for possible storms and showers of rain. As you can see from the picture below we got a little more than just showers.

We heard that the hail was coming, through messages from people who had just had the storm front pass and had time to move all the machinery and our cars undercover.

I'm glad we did! We left one old ute outside and it's bearing the scars now. We've heard from a friend of my bosses who was caught driving in it and had his windscreen smashed.

The good news is that at the moment it's raining. Really raining. Just praying that the hail didn't cause too much damage to our crops.

**Update** I've just managed to speak to Kym and he said we have suffered around 30% crop loss due to hail damage. Luckily we are insured against hail, so it's not going to be a financial loss, and the price we have our wheat insured for is actually more than the price of wheat per tonne at the moment so Kym isn't too concerned. It's still raining, and the thunder and lightening has just started up again.

Others aren't so lucky. Some have their crops insured against fire but not hail and this will be devastating.

I'm so glad you won't have any financial loss due to the hail, and that you were able to get everything under cover. I would not want to be driving in that!

What's a ute?

Thanks for the update Sharon.. i was praying for you when I was driving home in the storms today.. GOd sure opened up the heavens didnt he? it was quite spectacular in an eery way... and it got so dark inside..! Reminded me of hail storms in Dubbo when the school staff would run to their cars and we'd all be vying for the pergolas.. and all the kids watching thru the windows of classes at us crazy animals!! Anthony would even wake in the night to take our car to our neighbours empty carport in those storms... God must have been smiling at the fun we had, trying to avoid his miraculous hailstones.. !! Glad you are safe though!

Sharon,

I am thankful you are getting rain. So sorry about the hail damamge. The bad often comes pelting down with the good in this life, doesn't it? So thankful for your insurance.

I'm stunned. Completely stunned. Leah's words are so true... Some days I really wish I didn't live in a sin-filled world. Ugh.

Thankful you have hail insurance, but greatly saddened for those who don't.

Lord, thank you for the rain. We don't understand why the damaging hail came, but we do know that Your ways are not our ways. We continue to praise Your holy name and acknowledge You as our source of life daily! Father, please have mercy on these struggling farmers in South Australia. Please bless the harvest and provide for these families every need. And, may Your Living Water flow in their fields and in their lives. We thank you for Hope. In Jesus' precious and mighty name ~ Amen.

Continuing to pray, my friend...
